CEO Update regarding COVID19

Valued Southwest Members,

With all the information currently circulating in the news about the COVID-19 coronavirus Southwest Regional Credit Union would like to provide Members with a summary of some of this data in our efforts to ensure all Credit Union staff and Members receive the latest up-to-date information available. Southwest wants to ensure Members understand the severity of the situation and know that we are monitoring it closely.

As you know, the outbreak of a novel (new) coronavirus, first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, continues to spread. The outbreak now affects all provinces in China, and confirmed cases are being reported in numerous countries outside of China, including Canada, and more are expected. The disease caused by this virus has been given the name COVID-19.

At this time, the Government of Canada has issued travel health notices in respect of COVID-19. Please see the following link

STEPS BEING TAKEN

In light of these ongoing developments, we are implementing precautionary measures to protect our staff and Members.

Southwest Regional Credit Union will be restricting all travel by staff including outside events and inter-branch travel. Head Office has ensured all branches have the appropriate supplies like cleaning materials, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and latex gloves. You may notice some differences in our branches as staff are encouraged to reduce the chance of spreading the virus through reduced direct contact with Members and enhanced cleaning of high traffic areas like counter tops, door handles and ATM’s.

If you are feeling unwell or would like to avoid interacting publicly we encourage you to make use of our online banking and website services including mobile banking and our network of ATM’s.

We remain open for business and will continue to provide the same level of excellent service our Members have been accustomed to. As the situation evolves information will be posted on our website and at branch locations to outline our efforts to protect the health and wellbeing of all staff and Members.

At this time, we are providing the following guidance information to all Members:

  1. Follow all recommendations for travelers issued by the Government of Canada in respect of COVID-19 (see https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/health-safety/travel-health-notices/210).
  2. If you have recently travelled to a region identified by the Government of Canada as posing a “Level 3” risk or higher (currently, China), we ask that you refrain from attending our branches for 14 days following your return to Canada. During this 14 day period you should monitor your health for fever, cough and difficulty breathing. If you start having symptoms, isolate yourself from others as quickly as possible and immediately call a health care professional or public health authority.
  3. If you have recently travelled to a region identified by the Government of Canada as posing a “Level 1” or “Level 2” risk, we ask that you monitor your health for fever, cough and difficulty breathing for 14 days following your return to Canada. If you start having symptoms, isolate yourself from others as quickly as possible and call a health care professional or public health authority.
